After several years and one failed attempt, we’re delighted to be able to invite old friends and new to join us at Birmingham Student Housing Co-op for the return of Friday Night Dinner!

Many of you know what Friday Night Dinner is, but for those of you that don’t, or that need a bit of a refresher, Friday Night Dinner is a community event where we open our house to guests and provide everyone with good food and good fun.

If you’re a returning face, we can’t wait to see you again, but if you’ve never been before, don’t fret! Newcomers are more than welcome, and we’ll be happy to introduce you to the rest of our wonderful community. If you’re nervous about coming on your own, feel free to bring your friends, or if you’d like to get to know any of us a bit beforehand, don’t hesitate to drop the page a message and one of us will get back to you ASAP.

We’ve got a large living room, with a projector and music system and hopefully some good tunes. We’ve got a sizeable kitchen, and a big enough dining space to comfortably seat a number of guests. If the weather’s good enough, you’ll be more than welcome to enjoy our spacious garden and the amenities it offers, including the firepit and the trampoline.

As we provide the food and the space, we do ask for a donation of £2 if you can afford it, but no one will be excluded due to lack of funds.

All the food will be vegan, and we’ll do our best to accommodate other dietary requirements where possible, but we ask that you inform us as soon as you can. We’ll also aim to post the planned menu on the event page with plenty of time to spare, so that if you have any particularly nasty allergies, you can decide whether or not to attend.

If you’re planning to drink, please bring your own beverages of choice and, if you can, a receptacle from which to drink it.

Doors open at 7pm, with food aiming to be served at 8pm. If you just want to come along, say hi, and eat – that’s perfectly fine! If instead you don’t fancy food but want to join us for some fun anyway, you’re more than welcome to arrive a bit later. We’re aiming to have things winding down at around midnight, but ultimately this will depend entirely on where the evening takes us!

We’re afraid that the house is not wheelchair accessible. This is something we’d desperately like to improve upon, but for the time being we’re unable to accommodate wheelchair users. If you have any other accessibility issues, please message us and we’ll do our best to make the house a welcoming and open place for you.

We also have a cat at the moment. He’s a bit of a skittish boy, so we can’t promise you’ll get to meet him, but he might pop in and say hello. We also can’t promise his presence (or lack thereof) will trigger any allergies, so we’d recommend using your own discretion and dropping us a message if you’ve got any questions.

As you may have seen, we’re recruiting at the moment, so this is the perfect time for new faces to join us. We’re all lovely, we promise, and the house is pretty great too, but don’t take our word for it, come over and see for yourself!
